About

In his four decade career, Valan Stieler has received many awards and honors, including the prestigious designation of Audobon Artist.

Known for murals, paintings, prints, and wall hangings, Valan has also developed unusual woodburning techniques to create large-scale representational artwork.

These unique "engravings" showcase his ability to create a marriage between beautiful man-made detail and the organic grain of wood.

He does many commissions of portraits (both animal and human) painted or burned on stone, canvas and wood. He also burns images and designs on cabinetry and other furniture.

Valan now lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. His artwork is displayed in many galleries across the country. He is a member of the Artists In Cahoots cooperative in Lexington, VA and can be found in the shop on a regular basis.
